How does the YouLift 2.0 Bed work without a lifting mechanism?
The YouLift 2.0 Bed does not have any spring or piston lifting assistance. The platform, which holds the mattress, is connected to the cabinet with the Alignment Hinge. You lift the platform with the strength of yourself and a partner along this guide hinge, and it nests and locks into the cabinet. This allows the YouLift bed to be more affordable and easier to assemble compared to lift-assisted beds.
While some strong individuals will be able to lift and lower the YouLift 2.0 Bed by themselves, we recommend two able-bodied adults lift and lower together. The bed should not be operated by children, pregnant women, or anyone who isn’t sure about their physical ability.
How long does it take to get my YouLift 2.0 Bed?

What kind of mattress do I need for the YouLift 2.0 Bed?
The YouLift 2.0 Bed works with any mattress up to 12" thick and as light as possible (since the YouLift 2.0 bed doesn't have a lifting mechanism).
We recommend the YouLift Mattress, the mattress we designed from scratch to be comfortable, long-lasting, and easy to lift in the YouLift bed.
How does the YouLift 2.0 Bed need to be anchored to the wall?
The YouLift 2.0 Bed must be securely anchored to the wall to prevent tipping. Do not use the bed if it is not anchored to the wall.
We provide wood screws for mounting into wood or metal studs, and toggle bolts for mounting into drywall. If you have another type of wall, consult a contractor or your local hardware store for the appropriate hardware.

We did a lot of research before deciding on a Murphy bed for our New York apartment, and there are a lot of great options out there. After looking at so many different choices, this is ultimately what we settled on, and we’re really happy with it. I especially love that you the shelf and that the shelf also serves as the base. it also does not damage the floor to lift it up and down. It has felt.
Putting it together is not simple, but I do think two people can handle it if at least one of them is pretty handy. I highly recommend having a drill or screw gun with a screw attachment. Technically, you could probably assemble it without one, but I definitely wouldn’t recommend it.
If you live in a pre-war apartment, there’s one more thing to keep in mind: your moldings may sit very high on the floor. Ours did, so we had to cut around them. We used a handsaw for that, and it wasn’t a huge deal, but it was something we hadn’t anticipated.
Because our walls are concrete, we also had to purchase concrete anchors to secure the bed to the wall. Again, it wasn’t a big deal, but it’s definitely something to plan for ahead of time.
Once the bed was assembled, I put on the mattress I had ordered in advance. I believe the bed can accommodate a mattress up to 80 pounds, and ours is very close to that limit. It works perfectly fine, but if I were doing it all over again, I would probably choose a lighter mattress.

This bed was simple to put together (as simple as a Murphy bed can be), and super sturdy! It definitely takes two people to take down, but we also were able to use our 13-14" mattress with no problem. Very happy with this purchase!
