How does the YouLift Bed work without a lifting mechanism?
The YouLift bed does not have any spring or piston lifting mechanism. The platform, which holds the mattress, is not connected to the cabinet. The YouLift platform simply "rolls" up and down along the rounded wooden guide boards near the floor, and nests into the cabinet. Once raised, the platform locks into the cabinet.
While some strong individuals will be able to lift and lower the YouLift bed alone, we recommend two able-bodied adults lift and lower together. We do not recommend the bed be operated by children, pregnant women, or anyone who isn’t sure about their physical ability.
How long does it take to get my YouLift Bed?
Our Murphy beds and other products are usually in-stock and ready to ship the next business day. Everything arrives at your doorstep, typically in 3 to 7 days. Any pre-order or backordered products will show the expected shipping date before you place your order.
Can I assemble the YouLift Bed myself?
Yes, you don’t need a professional to assemble or install a YouLift Bed. Each step is simple and is clearly shown in our assembly instructions and step-by-step videos. The process takes a few hours, and it helps to have a second set of hands here and there, but you don’t need any special skills or tools.
What kind of mattress do I need for the YouLift bed?
The YouLift Bed works with any mattress up to 12" thick and as light as possible (since the YouLift bed doesn't have a lifting mechanism).
We recommend the YouLift Mattress, the first mattress designed from scratch to be comfortable and long-lasting in a Murphy bed.
How does the YouLift bed need to be anchored to the wall?
The YouLift bed must be securely anchored to the wall to prevent tipping. Do not use the bed if it is not anchored to the wall. The cabinet should be anchored to the wall in three places.
We provide wood screws for mounting into wood studs, and toggle bolts for mounting into drywall. If you have another type of wall, consult a contractor or your local hardware store for the appropriate hardware.

My wife ordered the bed for our guest room. The night before I watched the youtube video on how to put together a Lori Murphy bed.
As we were putting this one together (and it was very easy and straightforward) I was expecting the long complicated step of putting the suspension together (shocks etc) - then we got to step 30ish - and that was the last step. I was scratching my head - isn't there more to this?
Anyhow - it is a very simple design - two piece bed where you lift it into place - duh.
It came out great and we love it. My son who hates everything was happy and slept well on the 'you lift' mattress.

We had a little trouble with assembling the platform the bed sits on as it flipped over and disconnected. We otherwise liked it and found it manageable to assemble, it took longer than we expected from opening boxes to finishing off the mattress strap. We really liked how short it was compared to other vertical options for our space since our ceilings are a bit shorter (92”).

This opened up our barely used guest bedroom so I can use it for yoga. I built the bed myself (40 yo F). I’m pretty handy and strong but I wouldn’t suggest doing it alone unless absolutely necessary. It’s not bad in terms of difficulty, though you need to be very careful to have all the right parts and pieces in the right order. I messed up on step one and the screws wouldn’t lock into place and they are prone to being easily stripped. Otherwise it was pretty straight forward. Customer service was great, accessible and helpful. I knocked one star off for difficulty assembling and I don’t really care for the white stickers they provided for covering the screws bc they don’t cover them completely. It bugs me less and less though, as I’m not fixating on them anymore. Overall, the design is beautiful, clean and contemporary. I like that it’s functional as shelving too (as long as you have a plan for where you’ll put those items when the bed is down) and it feels more integrated into the room than other Murphy beds that look so imposing. Great value for your money and would definitely recommend!

My vertical queen Lori bed, white, came with all the parts and was easily assembled. We've used it 6 nights now, with 3 different people and it has held up really well. Folds away easily, very washable, all good.
One suggestion would be to have some3/4" wide adhesive cushioning strips to place on the end of the bed that sits on a hard floor. I added these strips and it makes folding the bed down and up silent and does not rub our hard floors. I you have carpet that the bed sits on, this comment does not apply.

I purchase a Queen size vertical YouLift for an art room guest space flex room. Exceeded my expectations! The product is attractive, well made and packaged to minimize damage that could occur during normal shipping! Product arrived within a few days of ordering in perfect condition! It was pretty easy to install and was done in an afternoon. No issues with 2 people lifting or lower the bed with a standard mattress on it. (Mid sixties with bad back and shoulder) Mounting it to the wall was easy and I also really liked that the supports are vertical and high enough that a young child is not going to climb it! I would suggest two things to improve installation and the product. Install wall mount part first and measure your base board height. If we had done the base bed first, as the instructions say, there would have been no room to put the wall mount together on the floor. Our base boards were several inches higher that the notch allowed for them in the product so we had to modify them which was easy enough if you have a router.

This bed is perfect for our space, actually looks good when closed, and is much more affordable than the other options we had looked at. We got the You Lift mattress as well and it's very comfortable. The customer service is also fantastic, which is so important with larger purchases like this. One of the parts arrived with some damage caused during shipping and Lori Beds customer service got us a replacement part right away with no fuss at all.
